At a series of press conferences in March and April, American public interest attorney Steven M. Druker launched his new book: ‘Altered Genes, Twisted Truth: an expose of the Genetically Engineered food industry,’ accompanied by primatologist and global ecologist Jane Goodall.

Rachel Parent was honored to join both Mr. Druker and Ms. Goodall during one of his Canadian press conferences on April 10.

As Mr. Druker states in his book, “Contrary to the assertions of its proponents, the mammoth enterprise to reconfigure the genetic core of the world’s food supply is not based on sound science but on the systematic subversion of science – and it would collapse if subjected to an open airing of the facts.”

Altered Genes also exposes what Druker calls ‘Health Canada’s Dereliction’ in its support of the GMO industry.

Druker first came to prominence for initiating a lawsuit against the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) that forced it to divulge its files on GE foods, and has since founded a non-profit, non-political organization, Alliance for Bio-Integrity that seeks to gain a more responsible and science-based policy on genetically engineered foods.

As Jane said to Rachel, “Youth need guidance and the wisdom of the elderly. Instead of asking ourselves what kind of world are we leaving for our children, we should ask instead, what kind of children are we going to leave for our world.”
