Individual Studies

Note: a number of the studies listed below cite the relationship between pesticides (such as glyphosate, the key ingredient in Monsanto’s Roundup) and human health. These studies are included because of the direct relationship between GMO crops and pesticides: the primary trait of genetically modified crops is and engineered resistance to the use of pesticides—including Glyphosate, Glufosinate, and most recently, 2,4-D, one of the key ingredients in Monsanto’s Agent Orange defoliant used during the Viet Nam war—causing a marked increase in the use of pesticides in agriculture over the past 20 years.

Note: in November 2013, Food and Chemical Toxicology, the journal that published the above August 2012 paper, announced that it was retracting the paper. The article was then republished in June 2014 in the journal Environmental Sciences Europe. The republished paper includes Gilles Eric Seralini’s reply to critics and gives the political background to the retraction. All recent research is reported on his new website at www.criigen.org. Moreover, the data underlying the findings of the longest and most detailed study ever done on a pesticide in formulation along with a GMO are now available in Open Source publication: http://www.springeropen.com/search/results?terms=seralini
